The WA State Attorney General's Office has 28 legal divisions providing all of the legal services for the State of Washington’s agencies, boards, commissions, and public colleges and universities, including litigation, legal advice, and appellate work on matters of individual and cumulative importance to the citizens of this state. The myriad of challenging issues and work ranges, for example, from child welfare, environmental, consumer protection, financial institutions, and sexual violent predators, to death penalty and constitutional concerns.

Requirements

Applicants must have graduated from a law school accredited by the ABA or completed the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program; and be licensed to practice law in Washington state. (Applicants who meet the other stated qualifications and are actively pursuing admission by motion will also be considered.)  The AGO seeks applicants who are committed to public service as demonstrated by an applicant's background, talents, attitude, and enthusiasm for public law practice. We also seek applicants with a diverse background in education, previous work experience, law school activities, extracurricular activities, community service and areas of interest that enhance our office.
